After an unforgettable, soul-stirring opening afternoon, AfterGlow Chorus returns to St. Paul's in Oakland this Sunday, August 16, for our final concert of the summer.

Our opening performance last Sunday was nothing short of magical. Under the soaring stone arches of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Oakland, hundreds of voices, listeners, caregivers, and music lovers came together for an afternoon filled with deep solace, shared memory, and uninhibited joy.

The energy in the sanctuary was tangible—from the quiet stillness during Maurice Duruflé’s Ubi Caritas to the joyful response following Sam Cooke's Bring It On Home to Me.

Inside the Experience: A Journey of Healing & Hope

"The Gift of Love" takes listeners through a three-part emotional arc crafted to comfort the spirit and lift the heart:

• Part 1: Lament & Longing — Featuring György Orbán’s fiery Daemon Irrepit Callidus, Duruflé’s serene Ubi Caritas, and a lush meditation on nostalgia by Oakland’s own Greg Murai (Pure Imagination).

• Part 2: Solace & Devotion — Honoring caregivers and loved ones with Alma Bazel Androzzo’s If I Can Help Somebody (famously quoted by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.) and Sara Bareilles’ empowering anthem Brave.

• Part 3: Healing & Hope — Bringing our journey into full bloom with Stacey V. Gibbs’ Wade in the Water, Richard Smallwood’s gospel masterpiece Healing, and celebratory soul classics.
