Rehearsals: General Information

Unlike most other choirs, AfterGlow rehearses in intensive, 4-week periods right before each concert.

 

Prior to the first rehearsal, singers are expected to learn, study, and practice their music independently. Because of this compressed schedule and the high-caliber background of our vocalists, rehearsals focus heavily on elite vocal blend, stylistic agility, and deep musicality rather than note-learning.

 

Our rehearsal venue is at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Oakland (with beautiful acoustics), located in the popular Lake Merritt neighborhood of Oakland, CA. The location is highly accessible by Bay Area mass transit (Lake Merritt BART and AC Transit), parking is available, and many singers choose to carpool from surrounding Bay Area cities.
