AfterGlow Chorus: Summer 2026 Rehearsal Dates & Schedule

Our Summer 2026 concert program "The Gift of Love" is a deep dive into the architecture of the human heart. We are performing a healing, musical offering designed to be a sanctuary of sound, providing profound comfort and emotional healing for those navigating loss, caregiving, or the need for a quiet moment of grace. This isn't just a concert—it’s a musical mission.

As we always do, we will be singing uplifting and powerful music from many different genres (e.g., classical, R&B, Gospel, pop, etc.). To achieve our signature blend across this demanding selection, we rely on our experienced choral singers to learn and prepare their parts ahead of time so we can focus entirely on refining our signature sound when we gather.

The Musical Program (subject to change)

We have a packed and deeply meaningful program. We’ll be diving into:

• Contemporary & Classical: Angele Dei (Susan LaBarr), Alleluia (Thomas LaVoy), Salmo 150 (Ernani Aguiar), Daemon Irrepit Callidus (György Orbán), Ubi Caritas et Amor (Maurice Duruflé), O Holy Lord (Nathaniel Dett), and When You Are Old (Hans Bridger Heruth).

• Powerful Spirituals: Wade in the Water (arr. Stacey Gibbs), Wanna Die Easy When I Die (arr. Ysayë Barnwell), Give Me Jesus and I Want Jesus to Walk with Me (arr. Moses Hogan).

• Jazz: Pure Imagination (arr. Greg Murai).

• Gospel: The Storm Is Passing Over (Donald Vails), Healing (Richard Smallwood), If I Can Help Somebody (arr. Nathan Carter).

• Soulful R&B: Sam Cooke’s classic Bring It on Home to Me.​

Rehearsal & Concert Dates (Summer 2026)

In order to build a cohesive sound within an elite, auditioned ensemble in such a compressed timeframe, singers are expected to attend all rehearsal and concert dates listed below.

 

Regular rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and concerts are held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Oakland, located in the beautiful Lake Merritt neighborhood (across Grand Ave from Lake Merritt, one block from Whole Foods). The venue is highly accessible via Bay Area mass transit (Lake Merritt BART and AC Transit), and free parking is readily available.

• 8 Regular Rehearsals (Mondays & Wednesdays | 7:00 PM – 9:30 PM):

  • July 2026: 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29

  • August 2026: 3, 5

• Dress Rehearsal: Saturday, August 8, 2026 | 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

• 2 Concerts: Sunday, August 9 & Sunday, August 16, 2026 | 1:30 PM Call (4:00 PM Concert)

 

All rehearsals and concerts are held on-site at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Oakland.
