The roster for our high-intensity Summer 2026 program, "The Gift of Love," is nearly locked. Here is your final opportunity to claim a space in the room.
There is a specific kind of frustration known only to advanced singers balancing busy Bay Area careers. You miss the uncompromising artistic standard of your collegiate chamber choir or elite a cappella group. You miss the feeling of standing in a section where everyone has prepared independently, locked in their vowels, and arrived ready to make art rather than pound out notes.
But you don’t have the room in your schedule for a grueling, six-month community choir commitment.
AfterGlow Chorus was designed precisely for you. Our "High Intensity. High Excellence." model pairs elite musical rewards with a highly compressed timeline. Because our singers prepare entirely independently a month in advance, we don't waste time learning parts. We spend our time creating a breathtaking, unified sound.
Our primary audition period is rapidly closing. If you are an experienced SATB singer looking for a true community of musical peers, this is your final call to audition before the roster locks for the summer.
The Program: "The Gift of Love"
This summer, we are preparing a powerful, multi-genre repertoire designed to serve as a literal sanctuary of sound for our community. We dare our singers to master an extraordinary stylistic spectrum with absolute musical integrity:
Pristine Classical A Cappella: Navigating the complex, luminous layers of Maurice Duruflé’s Ubi Caritas and György Orbán’s Daemon Irrepit Callidus.
The Depth of Spirituals: Leaning into the profound historical gravity and uninhibited vocal power of arrangements by Moses Hogan and Stacey Gibbs.
Raw Gospel Fire: Unleashing authentic, soaring tone and tight, powerful harmonies through the masterfully crafted scores of Richard Smallwood.
Vocal Jazz & R&B: Crafting the razor-thin, tight textures and secular grooves of Greg Murai and Sam Cooke.
Summer 2026 Logistics at a Glance
Who We Are Seeking: Versatile, independent SATB singers with strong sight-singing skills and deep choral backgrounds.
The Schedule: An intensive, 4-week sprint. Rehearsals run Monday and Wednesday evenings beginning July 13, 2026.
The Concerts: Two major performances on August 9 and August 16, 2026.
The Location: Rehearsals take place at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Oakland (near Lake Merritt, easily accessible via BART with free parking).
The Audition: Held at Piedmont Piano Company in Oakland. You'll bring a short, prepared unaccompanied song, followed by vocalizing and a sight-singing assessment.
The Cost: 100% Tuition-Free. We invest entirely in exceptional local talent.
